Why a sauna built up north

Built for northern Minnesota winters, in northern Minnesota.

Saunas came to northern Minnesota with the Finnish and Scandinavian families who settled the lake country, and a wood-fired sauna at the lake is still how a lot of us end a winter day. Metch's builds for that tradition.

Darren Matetich hand-selects the lumber and builds each sauna from scratch in the Bemidji shop, one at a time. Walls are insulated and foil-lined so the stove heats the room fast and holds it. The result is a finished piece of woodwork built to last for decades, not a box shipped from out of state.

  2. Custom cedar sauna under construction inside a workshop, with porch posts and roof rafters

    Build

    Your sauna is framed, sided, insulated and paneled in cedar in our Bemidji shop. One build at a time.

  3. Fully assembled cedar sauna and matching woodshed strapped to a trailer, ready for delivery

    Deliver

    We haul it out fully assembled and set it on your prepared pad. Free within 30 miles of Bemidji.

What buyers ask first

How much does a Metch's sauna cost?

Our six standard models run from $12,900 plus tax for a 6.5 × 9 with a 2 ft porch up to $22,500 plus tax for an 8 × 16 with a change room and deck. Prices include cedar inside and out, an installed Harvia wood stove, and free delivery within 30 miles of Bemidji. Custom sizes and upgrades are quoted individually.

How long is the wait?

We build a limited number of saunas each year, one at a time, and the build list fills each season. Reach out early and Darren will tell you where the next open build slot is.

Is this a kit?

No. Each sauna is framed, sided, insulated, paneled and fitted with benches and a stove in our Bemidji shop, then delivered fully assembled. There is nothing for you to put together.

Do you deliver outside Bemidji?

Yes. Delivery is free within 30 miles of Bemidji. Beyond that we deliver across Minnesota for a distance-based fee, which we include in your quote.

Is the sauna ready to use when it arrives?

Yes. The stove is installed before it leaves the shop. Once it is set in place, you can fire it up the same day.
