About us
Family‑Built Saunas from Bemidji
Family owned and operated since 2022. One builder, a handful of saunas a year, and cedar chosen by hand.
Our story
It started with the wood.
Metch's LLC was founded in 2022 by Darren Matetich in Bemidji, Minnesota. Darren came to saunas through lumber: years of working with wood taught him what good cedar looks like, how it moves with the seasons, and how it should be put together to last.
Today Metch's Custom Saunas builds one thing: hand-built outdoor saunas, framed, sided, insulated and paneled in our Bemidji shop and delivered fully assembled. It is a family business, which in practice means the person who quotes your sauna is the person who builds it.
Why only 5 to 10 a year
Every sauna is built one at a time, by hand. We would rather build a few saunas right than a lot of them fast, so the build list is small and it fills every season. If you are thinking about a sauna for this winter, reach out early.
Built for up north
Our saunas live outside through northern Minnesota winters, spring thaw and humid lake summers. That is why we use cedar inside and out, insulate and foil-line every wall, and install a wood-fired Harvia stove as standard: the setup that works when it is well below zero and the power is out.
What we stand for
How we build every sauna
